Kaley’s journey

There are moments in life when things look so bleak or unending that we are tempted to give up hope. This moment has settled upon Kaley for some time now. She made a wonderful physical recovery through the pain and rehab program at Mayo in February, but a number of layered mental health struggles continue to linger. She has documented some of these through her blog and other writings. A new trauma happened in April which put her over the edge of being able to manage her depression and PTSD. This brought us to a pretty critical tipping point. Through prayerful research, reviews, and more, we’ve settled on Honey Lake Clinic in FL, as a residential care option–all within a Christian context–administered by licensed and experienced professionals.

Her insurance does not cover any residential programs (only in-patient or out-patient). Because in-patient is meant for temporary crisis management and out-patient is not enough, we have decided as a family that it is worth getting her the intensive care she needs from a provider and program she trusts. Kaley has spent her entire savings, and Alissa and I are contributing what we can to the expected total of $40K-45K but we are inviting others to be part of her journey.

Your timely donations will help us determine what course of action we need to take to cover the full amount through other loans and financing, all of which we wish to avoid if possible.

If you wish to donate large or small toward Kaley’s expenses, we ask that you do NOT do so through our missionary giving portal but rather through this temporary, giving fundraiser or please email us if you would like to be copied with the direct giving link to the clinic when it becomes available.

We are praying and seeking the Lord to move mightily and miraculously in her recovery, and while we wait for wholeness, we are doing what we CAN to move her forward with professional help, best suited to bring the spiritual and mental aspects into full health.

We cherish your prayers for us and for Kaley as she ventures into this next chapter of healing. We look forward to sharing with you the testimony of her journey in the coming months.

Sincerely grateful for your encouragement, prayers, and support at this time,

Dave and Alissa

P.S. If you know anyone else who may be moved to help meet this need, please forward it to them, being mindful of Kaley’s dignity and privacy.
